In May of 2001, a group of memebers of BIO-Oceans Association spent an enjoyable week "barging" along a canal in England. In the fall of 2002 a call went out to see if another group would be interested in a similar venture in the Fall of 2003, in France. Initial organization was in the hands of Mike Latremouile and Liz Mason. Because of other obligations, Mike could not participate so Liz took over as the projects Executive Director.
After several meetings and a lot of e-mailings, six couples decided to hire two boats from Crown Blue Line for a two weeks cruise on Canal du MIDI, from September 6 to 20.
This Web site will collect and share the background information for the project and serve as the archives. In addition, a weblog has been set up (see links on the left) for day to day exchange of information. If we can find access to the internet along the canal, we will also post a "Cruise Diary" on the weblog for the benefit of friends and relatives.
